  • Your phone must be registered on Three.ie and you must have topped up by €150 since you registered your phone. Once you have registrered your phone you can get your unlock code

Bill pay customers can unlock their phone at any time. You need to ensure that your phone has been registered on Three.ie Once you have registered your phone click here to get the unlock code

Method For Requesting An Unlocking Code

Three customers can request their handset unlocking code by completing an online form.

Expected Time Frame For Unlocking Code Delivery:

Three will contact customers with their unlocking code within 2-14 working days. If customers are requesting to unlock an iPhone then they will be contacted to advise when to sync their iPhone with iTunes to complete unlocking.

Customer’s Previously on O2:

Three customers who were originally on the O2 network can go here to get their unlock code.

Vodafone

Eligibility Criteria:

Prepay phones
  • Customers will need to have topped up by at least €127 in the last 6 months.
  • Customers will need to have purchased their handset from a Vodafone retail outlet.
  • Customers will not be eligible to receive their unlocking code if it’s been 6 months or longer since they have left the Vodafone network.
  • Customers can request up to 3 unlocking codes in a 12 month period.
Bill Pay phones
  • Your Vodafone account must be up to date. 
  • Your phone needs to be bought from Vodafone. 
  • You must be connected to Vodafone for at least 12 months or have spent €200.00 on your bill pay account. 
  • Unlock codes are not available it you have been disconnected for more than six months. You can request no more than three unlock codes in a 12 month period.

Vodafone customers can request their handset unlocking code by completing the online form attached.

Expected Time Frame For Unlocking Code Delivery

Unlocking codes requested from Vodafone can take from 2-15 working days. If customers are requesting to unlock an iPhone then they will be contacted to advise when to sync their iPhone with iTunes to complete unlocking.

Meteor/ eir

Eligibility Criteria:

Meteor Pay as you go:

  • Customers will need to have topped up by at least €120 in the last 6 months.
  • Customers will need to have purchased their handset from Meteor or eir
  • The handset must be registered to a customer’s account.

Meteor Bill Pay Customers
  • You must have paid more than €200 worth of bills OR 6 bills in total. Your account must not be in arrears or suspended by credit management.

eir Prepay Customers

  • You must have purchased the phone from us more than 14 days ago and used a minimum of €130 worth of credit since. The phone must be registered to your account on My eir

eir Bill Pay Customers
  • You must have completed your contract period. 
  • Your account must not be in arrears or suspended by credit management. 
  • If you have completed your contract period and upgraded to a new contract they will issue the unlock code for the original phone free of charge. Call 1800 303 466 to get the unlock code

Expected Time Frame For Unlocking Code Delivery:

Unlocking codes requested from Meteor and eir can take up to 10 working days, but some codes are available instantly upon request. If customers are requesting to unlock an iPhone then they will be contacted to advise when to sync their iPhone with iTunes to complete unlocking.

Tesco Mobile

Eligibility Criteria:

Prepay phones

  • Customers will need to have topped up by a minimum of €150 since joining Tesco Mobile or have been a customer for at least 9 months.

  • Bill Pay phones

The phone can be unlocked at any time as there is an existing contract

Method For Requesting An Unlocking Code:

Tesco Mobile customers can request their unlocking code through an online form found here.

Expected Time Frame For Unlocking Code Delivery:

Tesco Mobile will return the unlocking code within 2-21 days by text message. If customers are requesting to unlock an iPhone then they will be contacted to advise when to sync their iPhone with iTunes to complete unlocking.

Apple/iOS

If you have an iPhone then there may be different steps for unlocking based on the iOS version you’re using on your handset. Find out more on how to unlock your iphone

Android

If you have a phone that is made by Samsung, Sony, HTC, Huawei, Alcatel, or LG then your phone is most likely an Android phone. To unlock your handset, simply follow the below steps:

  • Insert a SIM card from a different network provider.
  • Turn on the phone.
  • Customer will be prompted to enter the network unlock code provided by network.
  • Customer enters the code and the phone displays message to confirm that it is now unlocked

Windows/Nokia

If you have a Windows (Lumia) phone, then you can follow the steps below to set your mobile free:

  • Insert a non-accepted SIM card into your phone and switch it on.
  • You will be asked to enter your unlock code.
  • Enter your code and press OK.

If you have an older Nokia phone, you may have to follow the steps below to set your mobile free:

  • Turn on your phone with no SIM card inserted and enter your PIN number if requested.
  • Key in # PW + unlock code + 7#
  • To get P press the * key 3 times
  • To get W press the * key 4 times, and
  • To get the + press the * button 2 times.

'SIM restriction off' will appear on the display of the phone.
