Who Do You Want To Win The X Factor?
We’ve met plenty of hopefuls (and a few no-hopers too!) but now only three acts remain standing in this year’s instalment of The X Factor. Last weekend’s semi-finals saw the last eliminations before the grand finale – which kicks off on Saturday at 7.30pm on Virgin Media One (Virgin TV 103) – and our own Brendan Murray was amongst those to be sent packing.
The soulful singer travelled all the way from his home in Jamaica to land his shot at glory – and it’s certainly been worth the trip! The 24-year-old has actually tasted success in his homeland already, but his audition performance of ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’ was the first time audiences this side of the Atlantic were introduced to his dulcet tones. If he does walk away with the title, then he’ll have to find a pretty big spot for his afterparty; he has 22 (yes, twenty two) brothers and sisters. No wonder he keeps getting so many votes!
For the 28-year-old Liverpudlian, the journey to the final started more than a decade ago, when he auditioned for the show at the tender age of 17; he was even part of the show last year, but his time was cut short due to personal issues. Now, though, the popular crooner is on the brink of completing his ten year overnight success story – and even a dodgy throat last weekend wasn’t enough to throw a spanner in the works! His close relationship with mentor Louis has been one of the most heartwarming features of this series, too; how psyched would we be to see the pair celebrating when Dermot delivers the final result?!
The sassy Surrey girl suffered a heartbreaking elimination at the Six Chair Challenge stage last year – but this year’s success has made all of that a distant memory! It didn’t necessarily start smoothly, when she needed two bites of the cherry at her very first audition, but from there she’s only gone from strength to strength. With the reliable and loyal Simon egging her on, her combination of personality and vocal ability has seen her make it this far, with a sing-off survival last weekend to thank for her place in the final showdown!
