Podcasts Not to Miss

Some of the finest shows from both here and abroad will be part of the Dublin Podcast Festival, which runs from September 26th to October 17th – here’s a bunch you really shouldn’t go without!

MUSIC

NO ENCORE

Not content with turning out Ireland’s biggest music podcast, these guys are a
dab hand when it comes to live events too; their irreverent analysis and opinionated
debate still present and correct, they often invite some of the country’s top acts to
perform for good measure!

ENTERTAINMENT

THE ADAM BUXTON PODCAST

The English comedy veteran remains one of the funniest men in the game, and his show is as brilliantly off-the-wall as he is! Featuring rambling interviews with anecdotes aplenty, it’s a regular demonstration of his eccentric excellence – and our own David O’Doherty will be his guest in Dublin!

COMEDY

THE BUGLE

Hosted by Andy Zaltzman, the satirical show has earned a fearsome reputation for its
ruthless – and hilarious! – take on news and current affairs. Whoever finds themselves in the crosshairs should watch out, because these guys take no prisoners!

HISTORY

THOSE CONSPIRACY GUYS

Everything from spies and assassins to aliens and ghosts are up for discussion in
this delightfully quirky homegrown effort. It’s occasionally outlandish, of course, but every episode is delivered with plenty of giggles – and a little bit of food for thought to boot!

CULTURE

THE GUILTY FEMINIST

A comedy podcast with its focus on feminism in action, Deborah Frances-White’s show is an honest and humorous look at the rights and wrongs that well-meaning people commit in everyday life. For the festival, she’s joined by Irish funnywoman Alison Spittle.

EDUCATION

THE ALLUSIONIST

Word-nerds assemble! Helen Zaltzman is your guide for a deep-dive into the English
language; from its origins to the newest developments, and from swearing to small
talk, it’s a surprisingly exciting look at how communication has been shaped over
time.

GIRL TALK

IT GALZ

Delivering a long overdue dose of girl power to Irish podcasting, Jenny Claffey and Lindsay Hamilton have made a potent mix of fun and feminism their calling card. Everything from celebrity scandal to political issues come under the microscope, but you can always count on it being laugh-a-minute!

STORYTELLING

THE DUBLIN STORY SLAM

For years, crowds have flocked to hear ordinary people telling their extraordinary stories; prepare for joy, heartbreak, comedy, tragedy, and just about everything in-between!
