Catch The Liam Miller Tribute Match Live On Virgin Media Three
The Liam Miller Tribute Match promises to be an incredibly special occasion, and the whole thing is live on Virgin Media Three (Virgin TV 106) from 2pm.
Miller, the Ovens born midfielder who represented Celtic, Manchester United and Ireland – amongst others – sadly passed away earlier this year after a battle with pancreatic cancer, and former teammates will take part in a game which will raise funds for Miller’s family, as well as Marymount Hospice.
A Man Utd legends line-up will be led by another Cork man, Roy Keane, and includes the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville, along with a host of others whose Old Trafford careers reached mythical status. The opposition will take the form of an Ireland and Celtic legends side; managed by Martin O’Neill, Miller’s international colleagues like Robbie Keane, Damien Duff and Richard Dunne will be joined by Bhoys heroes including Neil Lennon, Paul Lambert and John Hartson.
All 45,000 tickets were snapped up in record time, with Leesiders eager to celebrate the career of one of their beloved, and tragically departed, sons – but with the match on free-to-air TV, fans all over the country will be able to join in what should be an emotional, exciting and memorable afternoon. If you miss it, don’t worry – highlights will be shown on Virgin Media One (Virgin TV 103) at 10pm.
