The stories are creepy, and they’re wonderfully told; proof that there’s nothing to set the hairs on end like a good ghost story!

Pedro Almodóvar has been one of the finest directors in the game for decades; how fitting that a semi-autobiographical effort stands alongside his greatest work. Antonio Banderas is the ageing auteur in a film that’s moving, melodramatic – and, in short, an absolute masterpiece.

Anybody with coulrophobia – that’s a fear of clowns, trivia fans! – might want to brace themselves; Pennywise is back! A smart, sharp (and, of course, scary!) follow-up boasts a cracking cast and a killer story; draw the curtains and settle in if you fancy a fright before bedtime!

A film as entertaining as it is unique, this was one of last year’s most surprising successes; intelligent, empowering, and driven by a cast in career form. We would say that J-Lo steals the show, but in truth it takes a full ensemble to pull off a plan like this one!
JAY & SILENT BOB REBOOT

Kevin Smith’s slacker heros are on another juvenile jaunt – and it’s just as hysterical as we’re used to! As an added bonus, there’s a whole lot of heart on show here too; you probably won’t need tissues at the ready, but between the brilliant cameos and silly set-pieces, it’s a more grown-up gang than we’ve seen before!
DOWNTON ABBEY

The perfect period drama makes its feature length debut – and, like any self-respecting debutant, they’ve pulled out all the stops!
