Virgin Mobile Freestyle

Information

Unlike standard mobile contracts, Virgin Mobile Freestyle contracts are split in two: one payment for your Mobile Phone, and one payment for your Plan. Add them together and that’s what you’ll be paying each month. Easy!


Step 1: Choose your Mobile Phone and the phone contract length. We offer 12, 18 and 24 month contracts.


Step 2: Choose your Plan. This gives you data, minutes and texts to use every month and has a contract length of 30 days. Depending on the phone you chose you will need to pay a certain amount upfront for your phone.


Separating your Mobile Phone and Plan gives you greater flexibility:

  • Change your Mobile Plan up or down anytime (effective from your next Bill Date), to get more or less data, minutes and texts.  Who else lets you do that?
  • If you want to change your phone for the latest smartphone, but are still in a contract, all you need to do is pay off the remaining cost of your Mobile Phone only, then you can take out a new contract for your new phone.
  • Once you have paid off your phone in full, you’ll only pay for the Mobile Plan each month, so your monthly payment drops. Win!

Although you have two contracts, one for your Mobile Phone and one for your Mobile Plan, you will receive one bill with two payment amounts split out and one direct debit payment will be taken from your account per month.

To make things easy for you we provide a flexible way for you to pay for your phone.

How's it calculated?


All of our pricing is subject to an application check. The Virgin Mobile Application Check is an internal process used by us to review your application details, along with other checks typically used by Irish Mobile Operators. All of our pricing is subject to this check. Don’t worry, no data from third parties is used and we don’t share your details externally.


If you cannot avail of our lowest upfront price, don’t worry!  The overall cost of the phone over the life of the contract will end up the same, it’s just the upfront payment amount which might change. You will then pay less for your monthly phone charge.

 

Example:


If a phone costs €600, and you pay €120 upfront, you would then pay €20 a month for 24 months.  That all adds back up to €600.


However, if you have to pay €240 upfront for the same phone, it means your monthly charge will drop to €15 a month for 24 months.  Again, it adds up to €600.  Trust us – the maths works out!

 

So, if you don’t get the lowest upfront price, you can rest assured that you will be no worse off with Virgin Mobile.

Fair Usage Policy on unlimited plans: Monthly allowance of 10,000 (landline and mobile) minutes and 10,000 SMS within ROI and EU. All other calls and SMS in excess of our Fair Usage Policy or for international, premium, non-geographic numbers and non EU roaming will be charged at our standard rates. Monthly Fair usage allowance of 30GB data, after which speeds will be limited. 5.5GB of this 30GB allowance can be used within the EU after which surcharges will apply. Surcharges will also apply if over a 4 month rolling period your roaming usage or presence within the EU exceeds your domestic usage or presence. Details of our rates can be found here.


Virgin Mobile Phone: If you purchase a mobile phone from Virgin Media, you must have an active Virgin Mobile plan for each phone.
