EastPoint launches Free WiFi Service powered by UPC
Free WiFi for EastPoint’s 50 companies and 6,000 employees
Dublin: Wednesday 19th March 2014: EastPoint, Dublin’s only city centre based office park and home to a thriving business community of 50+ Irish and multinational companies, today announced faster and better communications for EastPoint by rolling out a new outdoor WiFi service across the entire park.
EastPoint is the only office park in Ireland with free public access WiFi. The new WiFi service is powered by UPC and was launched by Dublin’s Lord Mayor, Oisín Quinn, EastPoint Park Manager, Jane Cross and CEO of UPC Ireland, Magnus Ternsjö.
EastPoint’s new outdoor WiFi service will be available across the 40 acre park area, twentyfour hours a day, seven days a week. It will allow 50+ companies, including Irish, multinational and Fortune 500 corporations and their 6,000 employees, to connect to UPC’s fibre powered free WiFi network from anywhere in the park.
Speaking at the launch, Lord Mayor of Dublin Oisín Quinn said, “In today’s business world it’s all about staying connected. Thanks to considerable advances in mobile technology, more and more people are doing business on the go. However, while they possess the technology to remain connected, they don’t always have the service. UPC’s new WiFi service will now provide this free of charge to staff and visitors to the park”.
Jane Cross, EastPoint Park Manager added, “We’re delighted that EastPoint is the first office park in Ireland to be fully WiFi enabled, thanks to UPC Business. We have enjoyed a long relationship with UPC having their Irish head office in the park and this new service is a fantastic and welcome addition to the existing range of on-site amenities available to employees and visitors, which makes their experience here even more rewarding.
CEO of UPC Ireland, Magnus Ternsjö said: “As Ireland’s leading awarding winning broadband, TV and telephony provider we‘re constantly innovating and looking at new ways to improve offerings to our customers. What better way to do that than to offer our fibre power digital services to all 6,000 staff members and visitors to companies in EastPoint where we have been based for almost fifteen years.
“Furthermore, UPC is constantly innovating to provide additional incentives for companies considering Ireland for potential investment. The new EastPoint WiFi service will improve the attractiveness of EastPoint for those businesses looking to establish a base here.”
In another recent move, UPC Business announced its new 500Mbps superfast broadband service which will be offered to businesses across the country and which more than doubles currently available speed offerings, making a significant contribution to regional economic development and powering the digital economy. The new service is first being made available in Dublin, Waterford and Galway and will then be rolled out to other towns and cities in Ireland.
