THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL At The Ireland’s Got Talent Finale

The highly anticipated final of Ireland’s Got Talent kicked off on Saturday night in the Helix in Dublin, with presenter Lucy Kennedy continuing to keep judges Michelle Visage, Louis Walsh, Jason Byrne and Denise van Outen in line. After months of searching high and low around the country, thousands were finally whittled down to just eight for the feel-good finale, while viewers were also treated to a performance by British singer Paloma Faith.

Dance group RDC or Rhythm Dance Company were the worthy winners on the night, with all 31 members who vary in age from 12 to 22 giving it their absolute all. Choreographed by their teacher Billie Jean, the Cork dance troupe performed an electrifying routine and became the first-ever winners of the Irish series. RDC secured the most public votes and took home the grand prize of €50,000 as well as landing a starring role in their very own hour-long television special, which will air later in the year.

It was a jam-packed night with the runners-up comprising of two other dance groups: FKFT and Xquisite. Adorable dance duo Double Impact were amongst the other finalists, as well as rapper Aaron J Hart, singer Linda McLoughlin and the two wild cards, dancer Zacc Milne and singer Matt Dodd. All four judges were thoroughly impressed with the talent on the night and full of praise for the various acts, with Lucy Kennedy confirming that the hit show will return next year.

The semi-finals of Ireland’s Got Talent are through – and boy, were there some surprises along the way!

Tuesday’s contest saw a pair of acts dancing their way into Saturday’s showpiece – but one crowd favourite dancing his way home. Billie Jeans Rhythm Dance Company will be hitting the stage on Saturday, after the Cork crew’s immaculately choreographed routine won the crowd – and the judges – over to start the show with a bang.

Pint-sized prancers Double Impact are also set for the final hurdle. The Dublin duo of Kyle and Syesha were forced to sweat as the judges decided between them and the Deaftones choir as to who would claim the second spot, but their Aerosmith-soundtracked efforts were enough to see them through.

Another popular prancer was disappointed, however, as Zacc Milne was eliminated. Jason’s Golden Buzzer contestant Martin McGuinness didn’t make the cut either, but…well….yeah, we all know that story!

Thursday, meanwhile, saw Tallaght talents Xquisite wow their way towards the ultimate showdown. Not yet teens, the dancers’ magnificent moves to ‘Love Generation’ saw them seal their passage to the main event.

There will also be a spot there for Aaron J Hart. The Galway rapper grabbed a lot of attention for his passionate and heartfelt performance – with the help of a bloody great choir! – and will now have an opportunity to showcase his honest and intense artistry on the biggest stage of all.

Saturday promises to be a thrilling night – and there’ll be surprises from the off when we find out which of the now-eliminated contestants will receive the lifeline of the judges’ wildcard! Clear your diary – it’s an evening you won’t want to miss...

The first Semi-final of Ireland’s Got Talent saw the first pair of acts through to the Grand Final decided – and it’s a half-singing half-dancing situation!

Louis Walsh’s Golden Buzzer act reminded us just why the pop impresario was so smitten first time round, as Linda McLoughlin booked her spot in Saturday’s showpiece with a magnificent rendition of The Power Of Love wowing both the judges and the Helix crowd. She beat out drag act Paul Ryder to get the judges’ seal of approval and a ticket to the big dance.

Earlier, a performance brimming with energy and enthusiasm saw FKFT make a massive statement, with their huge effort earning the top spot in the public voting – enough to assure their passage to the finale.

Lucy Kennedy’s Golden Buzzer choice of Christopher King was one of the unlucky contestants who didn’t make it through – but with a wildcard pick set to join the qualifiers on the Grand Final stage, there’s still a chance at making it through to the biggest night of all!
