Tuesday 13th January 2026: Virgin Media Television’s groundbreaking new series The Assembly Ireland launches on Monday, 19 January at 9pm on Virgin Media PLAY and Virgin Media One, and Episode One sets the tone with a fearless interview featuring Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

Michael Martin

In this bold new format, a group of autistic and neurodivergent reporters, known as ‘The Assembly’ – take control, asking the questions no one else dares, and nothing is off limits. From who was the worst leader of Fianna Fáil, to why he doesn’t eat biscuits, and how he has dealt with tragedy, the Taoiseach answers truthfully. The group also takes the opportunity to raise the issues that matter most to them, including housing, employment, and future supports.

The episode also features a moving performance of ‘Always Been in Here’, written by non-speaker Max and performed by David and Kevin, leaving both the Taoiseach and The Assembly deeply moved.

Taoiseach Michael Martin will also appear on Ireland AM on Monday 19 January ahead of the debut episode of The Assembly later that night. The Taoiseach will take to the Ireland AM sofa to discuss his experience appearing on The Assembly and some of the key issues that arose during his episode.

The Assembly Ireland is more than a series – it’s a conversation starter, showcasing neurodiversity and inclusion in a way never seen before on Irish television. From raw truths to unexpected revelations, prepare for a series that rips up the rulebook on celebrity interviews and dares to ask it all.

Based on the international hit format from Can’t Stop Media, The Assembly Ireland is produced by Kite Entertainment for Virgin Media Television with support from Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound and Vision Funding Scheme.

The Assembly Ireland premieres Monday, 19 January at 9pm on Virgin Media PLAY and Virgin Media One.
