Tuesday, 21st January 2013: Ireland’s leading TV, broadband and communications innovator UPC is launching a new service, Horizon Phone App, which enables UPC customers to save money on their mobile bills.

The free app combines the convenience of your smartphone with the great value of your UPC Home Phone, allowing you to use your smartphone to make calls through your UPC Home Phone call pack.

The app can be used everywhere Wi-Fi is available; at home or abroad. Wherever you are in the world - you can call family and friends back home for free (using your inclusive UPC Home Phone call pack), avoiding expensive roaming costs.

The Horizon Phone App is ideal for families. It can help parents to save money on the amount of credit they buy for their children’s mobile phones. Using a smartphone over a Wi-Fi connection, family members can use the app to call friends for the same rates as their UPC Home Phone. Parents also can monitor their spend, and manage their registered
devices using the My UPC service on upc.ie.

Up to three members UPC home can use the app at the same time, while enjoying making savings.

The app will be available free of charge for UPC Home Phone customers this Spring on Google Play Store for Android and the App Store for Apple iOS.

The Horizon Phone App is a further step in a continuing pathway of innovation designed to bring great new services to UPC customers. Last week, UPC announced a revolutionary new Wi-Fi service it is trialling with 10,000 Broadband customers in Limerick. Horizon Wi-Free will also be free, and rolled out to all UPC broadband customers in the months ahead.
