Why
Avengers: Infinity War
Is THE Superhero Hit Of The Summer
It’s the 19th instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – we know, they’re really adding up! – and many have called
Available to rent now on Virgin Movies from €4.99, our heroes’ battle to stop the villainous Thanos from collecting the powerful Infinity Stones has become one of the most successful films of all time, and there’s good reason why!
THE ENDING
Yes, it’s weird to start at the end, we know. And don’t start frantically clicking out of the page here either – it’s a spoiler-free zone around here! What we can tell you, though, is that the conclusion to Infinity War is emotional, powerful and utterly shocking. Fans are still recovering from the incredible events of the climax, and we can totally understand why. We shouldn’t say anymore right now; just watch it and see for yourself…
SUPER-SIZED
With so many different plot threads to follow, so many characters to show, and such a massive sprawling story to tell, it would be easy for a film like this to lose its way. Instead, it’s perfectly paced and precisely written, with the sheer scale of the story only adding to the rollercoaster ride. It’s been called the most ambitious superhero film ever made – so the fact that they pull it off is worth a tip of the cap!
A REAL EYE-OPENER
It shouldn’t come as a surprise, by now, that the Marvel guys know how to make a pretty picture – but the epic battle and fight scenes on show here have to be seen to be believed. From the use of CGI to some superb direction under the watch of the Russo brothers, it’s every bit as bombastic and beautiful as a good blockbuster should be. Throw in a superb soundtrack and you’ve got a real treat for the senses!
THEY ALL GET A CHANCE TO SHINE
Well, maybe not everyone – there’s more than 40 characters in the film, after all! – but we were certainly impressed by the number of our heroes who were given the chance to be in the spotlight. From Hulk’s battle with, er, himself, to Thor’s starring role and *********, loads of our favourites got to play a major role in the story. Ensemble casts sometimes end up fighting for screentime, but the makers of this one seems to have nailed it!
ONE FOR THE BAD GUYS
Superhero movies only work if there’s a supervillain to match – and in Thanos, the Avengers most certainly have one! The film puts the intergalactic despot front and centre, and we get to understand him in a way we rarely get to know baddies in comic book films. You’re not going to be rooting for him – or certainly we’d hope not! – but he’s a more fleshed-out character than your average villain, meaning the battle he wages against the Avengers means so much more…
