Your Mobile Phone
How many phones can I buy?
Variety is the spice of life, right? You can purchase up to 2 mobile phones per account. However, you must have an active Virgin Mobile Plan for each mobile phone purchase. You can only add an additional phone the day after you have received your first one. When you're ready, just go online, give us a call or pop into one of our retail stores to order your second phone.
Why can’t I get the advertised price?
Pricing is subject to an application check, but this will only affect the upfront cost, not the overall cost. In fact, the higher the upfront payment, the less you pay on your monthly phone charge.
For example, if a phone costs €600, and you pay €120 upfront, you would then pay €20 a month for 24 months. That all adds back up to €600.
However, if you have to pay €240 upfront for the same phone, it means your monthly charge will drop to €15 a month for 24 months. Again, it adds up to €600.
If you don't get the lowest upfront price, you can rest assured that everyone gets the same fair deal with Virgin Mobile.
What is the Application Check?
The Virgin Mobile Application Check is an internal process used by us to review your application details, along with other checks typically used by Irish Mobile Operators. Don't worry, no data from third parties is used and we don't share your details externally.
Can I pay my phone off early?
Our Freestyle Contract lets you pay off your phone as early as you want. When you begin your contract, you get to choose how long the phone will be included in your bill: 12, 18 or 24 months. At the end of the period you choose, you’ll only pay for the service.
You can also pay off your phone in one go, and then you’re free to get the latest and greatest model, while enjoying the nationwide service Virgin Mobile offers.
How do I know if my phone is locked?
If you have a Virgin Mobile SIM, simply pop it into your phone. If you get an error message, your phone is still locked. Visit our unlocking guide for further information.
Can I use a phone from my previous network provider?
Absolutely, but you will need to make sure that your handset is unlocked before you're able to use your Virgin Mobile SIM in it. You can go to our unlocking guide for further information on how to request your unlocking code, depending on the network provider.
