What To Watch Now Line Of Duty Is Done
Well mother of God, what a season! Line of Duty has long been regarded as one of the smartest, sharpest and downright sensational shows on the box, and this latest run did nothing to disuade supporters! Now, though, the wait to see who H is – or, how manys H’s there are, perhaps! – begins again, leaving a big old police procedural hole in our viewing schedule.
Not for long, though; there’s a pile of perfect replacements to deliver your fix of fingernail-worrying fun! So if you’re feeling withdrawals from the departure of our AC-12 pals, get a load of this lot…
BODYGUARD
Available now on Netflix, Virgin TV 999
If the incredible tension of this political crime thriller rings a bell, it should; the creator of Line of Duty, Jed Mercurio, is also responsible for this belter. PS David Budd makes for an absorbing lead character, while the familiar face of Keeley Hawes is every bit as captivating as she was playing Lindsay Denton. Taut writing and spectacular twists, it’s addictive stuff – and at six episodes it’s just built for a binge!
BLOOD
Available now on Virgin Box Sets
Ted Hastings is a man well able to keep a secret – but he should meet Jim Hogan! Adrian Dunbar is central to this wonderful homegrown show, and it’s every bit as intriguing as his other hit series. A dark drama following a family in the aftermath of the matriarch’s death, it’s smart, stylish and stupendously moreish. Clear your schedule for this one, because once you start you won’t feel much like stopping!
THE BAD SEED
Tuesdays @ 9pm, Alibi, Virgin TV 151
The best thing to come out of New Zealand since the All Blacks, this drama follows the story of two brothers without a lot in common – but it turns out to be a whole lot more than that when a murder plunges them both into the eye of a hurricane! Each episode adds a new layer to the story, and the deliciously inter-connected threads are ripe for exploration. Book the couch for the next few weeks; it’s a show you really shouldn’t miss…
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR
Available now on Netflix, Virgin TV 999
If high stakes and higher drama is your thing, then this punchy political thriller will be right up your street! Kiefer Sutherland is his usual intense self as a politician thrust into the White House following a terrorist attack – and, as is the way in these shows, the tragic event itself is really only the start of things! It’s good timing to dive in, too, as Season Three is slated to arrive in early June…so what are you waiting for?!
