The Characters Coming Home For Christmas

Christmas

There’s nothing like the journey home for the holidays – even if speeds might vary! From the snail-paced to the, ahem, superfast, we reckon there’s all sorts of characters looking to get back to the homestead – by any means necessary!

We’re rooting for this lot to make it back in time for the festivities, but some of them might want to set off soon…

PHILIPPE PETIT

The Walk, available to rent now on Virgin Movies from €2.99

Slow and steady is the name of the game when traversing the gap between skyscrapers, but surely he’d be able to pick up speeds when off the tightrope?! Either way, the star of this flick – which combines nail-dragging tension and delicately observed drama – has his work cut out to land on the doorstep before Santa does!

RED POLLARD

Seabiscuit, available to rent now on Virgin Movies from €2.99

There are definitely cases where four legs are certainly better than two – and this is a fine example, as Red’s super steed would make the trip in good time! The heroic horse might not be able to fly, but if he takes a page out of the reindeer’s books then Red will be laughing!

LETTY ORTIZ

Fast & Furious 8, available to rent now on Virgin Movies from €2.99

Pedal to the metal, there aren’t many who could outpace this deadly driver. Thing is, we’re not sure she’s ever encountered the joys of Christmas traffic before! Then again, considering that her troubles are usually with picking up too much speed, perhaps she’ll reach a happy medium…

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR

Toy Story 4, available to rent on Virgin Movies from €4.99

The power of flight is quite the advantage when time is of the essence, and our favourite Space Ranger superhero will certainly take off with confidence! Even if he somehow gets his wings working, though, there’s something that might just slow him down – the frequent pit-stops he’ll need to change batteries!
