So settle onto the sofa and get comfortable; here’s what you can look forward to in the weeks ahead…

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET

Available to rent from April 1st on Virgin Movies from €4.99

The first adventure was big, bright and bombastic – and this one brings it all to a whole new level! Ralph and his best pal Vanellope leap from the arcade to the web ¬– and, as is their style, they’re not doing it quietly! It’s heartwarming and hilarious, the visuals are a treat, and a batch of empowered female characters means it makes a point beyond most your average animation!

THE OLD MAN & THE GUN

Available to rent from April 1st on Virgin Movies from €4.99

The legendary Robert Redford announced he would retire after making this film; talk about going out on a high! Based on the true story of career criminal Forrest Tucker, it’s an entertaining romp that benefits from a sharp script, a winning story, and a cast that bring it to life in scintillating fashion. It’s one you’ll want to watch more than once!

ROSIE

Available to rent from April 5th on Virgin Movies from €4.99

A powerful and poignant film that serves as a reminder of just how good our homegrown fare can be, the story of a young family rendered homeless is touching, tender and altogether captivating. Sarah Greene is exceptional in the title role, while Moe Dunford and an impressive younger cast form a clan you can’t help but be captivated by.

THE POSSESSION OF HANNAH GRACE

Available to rent from April 8th on Virgin Movies from €4.99

The evenings might be brighter, but nights are still dark and full of terror – and here’s proof! A decidedly intense exorcism horror, it’s atmospheric and arresting while always keeping you on your toes. Less about the jump scares and more interested in eerie moments and a sense of unease, you might want to head to bed with the lights on after this one!

MARY POPPINS RETURNS

Available to rent from April 15th on Virgin Movies from €4.99

A spoonful of sugar may indeed help the medicine go down, but this reboot is perfectly sweet just as it is! Emily Blunt assumes the role of the brolly-wielding nanny – and does so brilliantly, we might add! – while the old timeless magic and new touches are blended seamlessly. The sights, the songs, the spirit; it’s everything you could want in a fabulous family film!

THE QUEEN OF SPAIN

Available to rent from April 29th on Virgin Movies, from €4.99

A film set in Hollywood’s golden age had better look the part – and this one certainly ticks that box! With Penelope Cruz luminous as a screen starlet (which is hardly a stretch!), a light and lively script packing plenty of punchlines, and lashings of style to help bring the period to life, the blend of historical and humourous is an enjoyable romp fit for royalty!
