Is your town one of the speediest in Ireland when it comes to Wi-Fi? We analysed real-world speed test data from TestMy.net to find out. Looking at average download and upload speeds across 50 towns and cities nationwide, we ranked the top 25 locations for internet performance and some of the results may surprise you.

While many might expect Dublin to lead the pack, it's actually Cork that tops the charts, offering the fastest average download speed in the country at 158.9 Mbps.

We focused our ranking on download speed, since it’s the most common measure of how “fast” your internet feels, whether you’re watching YouTube, streaming on Netflix, or downloading large files. However, we’ve also included upload speeds for context, since they matter for things like Zoom calls, online gaming, and cloud storage.

Methodology

We used publicly available broadband speed test data from TestMy.net to analyse and rank Ireland’s top 25 towns and cities. Each town’s position was based on its average download speed, the primary factor most users experience as internet "speed." Upload speeds are included for additional insight but were not used in ranking.
