We’re striving to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
Digital technology is how many of us connect. And it’s only going to become more so in the years ahead. To create a more equitable future, we need to enhance people’s digital skills today. As well as this, we must work to create solutions that’ll lead to a barrier-free digital landscape across Ireland.
SOAR
The SOAR Foundation provides preventative mental health interventions that build resilience and equip teenagers to thrive. They deliver transformative, half-day workshops in schools, led by facilitators who create safe spaces for teenagers. Virgin Media’s support helps SOAR deliver immersive programmes that build confidence, foster emotional resilience, and equip teens with the tools to stay true to themselves, no matter what the world throws at them.
P-Tech
Virgin Media is an industry partner for the P-TECH (Pathways in Technology) school model. Through the programme, which combines secondary and further education with work experience, students gain new qualifications and skills that will prepare them for the world of work. Since 2021, we have delivered workshops and hosted study visits for students. Additionally, each year we welcome transition-year students interested in digital marketing and tech to Virgin Media for their work placements.
Volunteering
Throughout the year, our colleagues have many opportunities to take part in various volunteering activities. From beach cleans to tree planting and goods collections, everyone can find something to get involved in.
Each year we are proud to host The Very Virgin Volunteer Week. This is one week each year dedicated to promoting the idea of employee volunteering among our colleagues. Each day a volunteering event takes place, and we use that time to expand existing partnerships within our local communities while increasing internal knowledge of the company volunteering policy. Each colleague gets one day off a year to use for volunteering.
In 2024 our Dublin colleagues helped prepare dishes for those in need in the Food Cloud Community kitchen, cleaned our beaches with An Taisce, sorted donations for the Simon Community, and walked dogs with the DSPCA. Meanwhile, our Limerick colleagues refreshed Barnardos offices and revamped their community gardens to ensure that the children who visit can enjoy some time outdoors.
