We Talk To Strictly Come Dancing Star AJ Pritchard
He’s currently hot-stepping his way onto our screens every week as part of Strictly Come Dancing, and in the new issue of PLAY Magazine, we pulled on our dancing shoes and hit the floor with the amazing AJ Pritchard!
Before he teamed up with YouTuber Saffron Barker for the latest series of the BBC favourite – airing every Saturday evening, in case you haven’t heard! – the professional dancer took the time to discuss the weeks he loves and loathes, what goes on behind-the-scenes, and why he’s hoping his fourth appearance will finally bring a slot in the final.
You’ll find the whole chat in the magazine right here – just one of a number of exclusive interviews in a jam-packed issue! – but if you just can’t wait for a sneak peek, get a taste of what to expect below…
ON TEACHING A CELEB PARTNER…
The most interesting thing is understanding how someone’s going to pick things up; everybody learns in a different way, and at a different pace. I don’t care whether they’re thinking about clouds or candy canes at Christmas; if their candy canes match my 1-2-3, then we can make it work on TV!
ON THE AMOUNT OF HARD WORK INVOLVED…
When you watch the show you see 90 seconds to represent what we’ve been doing all week long. And when I say all week, I mean it; we train for 10-12 hours a day. It really is non-stop. I think the expectations get greater every year – whatever we did last year, we have to top this time – and people forget that these celebrities really are starting from scratch.
The whole interview with AJ Pritchard is in the new issue of PLAY magazine – find it right here!
