Five Of The Decade’s Finest Shows To Watch On Netflix Right Now

best tv shows of the decade

It’s not just the year that’s winding to a close – but the whole decade. That’s caused a right headache for everyone who loves a good end-of list; there’s a whole lot to think about when it comes to counting down the greatest work of the last ten years!

But some simply stand out – and, sometimes, head and shoulders above the rest. If there were only five shows that we could rescue to bring into 2020 with us, it’d be these ones – but since they’re already collected on Netflix, there’s nothing to worry about! In fact, all you need to do is sit down, hop onto Virgin TV 999, and feast upon the very finest the 2010s had to offer…

MAD MEN

Oh, Don Draper – we know we probably shouldn’t fall in love with you, but, like so many others, we just can’t help ourselves! The show, just like the Madison Avenue crew, drips with style and smarts as it takes us through the 60s in the most swinging way possible!

BREAKING BAD

Walter White’s journey to the dark side was one of the most compelling ever committed to celluloid, and it only became more engrossing as it went on! It spawned a movie this year, of course, as well as Better Call Saul – which could make it onto this list in its own right – but we’re all about where it first began…

BLACK MIRROR

Charlie Brooker’s futuristic anthology began as a quirky cult project; it grew into one of the most impactful series of the decade. The breadth of styles and stories is breathtaking, but the quality is one thing that never seems to change. We can rest easy knowing we’ll be getting more in the 20s, too!

HANNIBAL

What might have been little more than an origin story for Dr. Lecter was a drama for the ages; poewrful, poised and, in many ways, perfect. Like so many shows before, it didn’t get the attention it deserved during its run; now’s the time to go back and right that wrong, because telly doesn’t get much better than this…

BOJACK HORSEMAN

From the brilliant Big Mouth to the magnificent Rick & Morty, adult animation is in another golden age – but this Netflix original might just top the lot. Searing satire and poignant commentary mix in a show that’s more real than many live-action efforts; what’s more, like the best shows, it gets better as time goes by…
