Hold on to your helmets because it’s time to prepare for an alien invasion
as Alien: Covenant, the latest installment in the Alien franchise, is set to hit cinemas on May 18!

We don’t have Sigourney Weaver in this one, but we do have our own Michael Fassbender, along with Billy Crudup and a host of other crew members on board the colony ship Covenant, which is bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy.

Spoilers make us sad, but synopses get us pumped! Ready?

Crewmember Walter is an android (not a very robot-like name, but there you go…), who comes face to face with fellow android David, who managed to survive the doomed Prometheus exhibition (that was the previous movie in the billion-dollar franchise – wake up at the back of the class!). Faster than you can scream, “Watch Out!” David turns nasty and starts to hunt the new arrivals.

As Fassbender and the rest of the crew battle for survival, gradually getting thinned out, David, the android with issues, causes mayhem. Will Fassbender meet a grizzly (if deserved) demise? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Now, to the deal:

The series, which started with the original Alien, has become a phenomenal success. The pesky creature from outer space just kept popping up in subsequent films, turning the surprise hit into a franchise, which includes Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, and Prometheus. If that’s not enough for sci-fi fans, there are also the spin-off Alien v Predator films to watch.

To put you in the mood for some sci-fi horror, you can join other movie fans celebrating Alien Day, which takes place on April 26th, and celebrate all things linked to director Ridley Scott’s original. Cue an avalanche of comics, toys and action figures, cinemas around the world screening the movie, and preview footage from Alien: Covenant.

The good news for Irish sci-fi fans is that they won’t have to queue at cinemas on April 26 to join in the big event, because we are giving a 50% discount on all Alien titles during that 24-hour period.
