This claim is based on an assessment of retail broadband availability for services capable of delivering speeds above 1Gbps across Virgin Media's owned and wholesale networks. Based on ComReg Broadband Coverage data (Sheet 5.1), Virgin Media can offer broadband services capable of delivering speeds above 1Gbps to 91.9% of Irish households, compared to 87.1% of Irish households for the closest competitor.
Virgin Media's advantage is driven by its ability to provide gigabit broadband services across both fibre and cable networks, while competitors' gigabit broadband availability relies on fibre networks only.

Dublin's #1 broadband of choice is based off independent consumer research conducted with RED C Research, which found that out of 750 consumers surveyed in Dublin between January 2026 - May 2026, 41% selected Virgin Media as their 'First Choice for broadband'. The closest competitor is at 18%.
Virgin Media commissioned RED C, an independent research company, to conduct a nationally representative survey of main or joint decision makers, continuously sampling 500 consumers in the Republic of Ireland per month. The specific question asked to respondents was 'Which of the following providers would be your first choice for broadband?'.
Using Network Reliability Stats as evidence, our Broadband was 99.9% reliable over the last 12 months.
