1. What time does the race start?

The event starts at 9:30pm. 

2. How do I enter?

All participants must enter online by Wednesday 18th May 2016.

3. Do I need to be a Virgin Media customer to enter?

No, everyone is welcome to participate!

4. How much is the entry fee and what does it include?

The entry fee of €30 (plus €1.50 processing and administration charge) goes to Athletics Association of Ireland to defray the costs of running the event. The race fee includes entry to the race, timing chip, race number, race shirt and goodie bag for every entrant.

Separately, Virgin Media has partnered with the Dublin Simon Community and is encouraging people to donate by texting ‘NIGHTRUN’ to 50300 to make a €2 donate or go online www.virginmedia.ie/donate.

Staff at Virgin Media are fundraising €10,000 for Dublin Simon Community as part of our contribution.

5. Is there a cut off time?

Yes. The cut off time for the completion of the 10km route is strictly one hour and twenty minutes. This is to ensure that the roads are re-opened as per agreements made with statutory bodies and transport authorities.


6. Are toilets provided on the route?

Yes. There will be adequate toilet facilities pre-race at the start area.

7. Where will race registration take place

At Trinity College Sports Hall (enter via Pearse Street) on the following dates and times

Friday 20th May from 11.00 to 20.00
Saturday 21st May from 11.00 to 18.00
Sunday 22nd May from 11.00 to 16.00

8. When will I receive my race number, top and goodie bag?

All participants will receive these items at race registration venue.

Friday 20th May from 11.00 to 20.00
Saturday 21st May from 11.00 to 18.00
Sunday 22nd May from 11.00 to 16.00

9. Will there be a group warm up for the race?

A group warm-up will take place around 15 minutes prior to the start of the event.

10. Where is the pre-race baggage drop?

The baggage drop will be located in Mayor Square by the National College of Ireland which is close to the staging area. Signage will be in place to indicate baggage areas.

11. Will there be medical facilities?

Yes, medical facilities will be in place for the race on the route.

All medical facilities will be clearly sign posted.

12. Will there be parking at the event?

Race organisers advise participants to access public transport (Dublin Bus, Luas and Dart) to get to the event. Should you be driving to the event, there will be free on-street parking outside of the race route on Sun 22nd May.

13. Is the event chip timed?

Yes - your timing chip will be contained within your race bib number.

14. How do I check my race time after I finish?

A link to race results will be posted online after the event.

15. I entered online but did not receive my confirmation email

16. I’ve just signed up for the Night Run online what do I do next?

Once you receive your confirmation email it means we have confirmed your entry into the race. You will receive a second email during the week of the event with further details about race pack collection (number, top and goodie bag) and race weekend.

17. Is there a nominated charity?

Yes. We are delighted to partner Dublin Simon Community.

18. What does Dublin Simon Community do?

Dublin Simon Community provide services to over 3,000 people in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Services range from:


  • Emergency accommodation & support providing people with a place of welcome, warmth & safety.
  • Soup runs & rough sleeper teams who are often the first point of contact for people sleeping rough.
  • Housing provision, tenancy sustainment & settlement services, housing advice & information services helping people to make the move out of homelessness & working with households at risk.
  • Specialist health & treatment services addressing some of the issues which may have contributed to homeless occurring or may be a consequence.
