Richard Branson and Patrick Stewart in New Marketing Campaign

for Virgin Media in Ireland

#HereComesTheMagic

Monday 5th October 2015 - Filmed in Dublin with Richard Branson a month before its launch event last week, Virgin Media’s new marketing campaign has taken to the national airwaves, highlighting the transformation of UPC Ireland into Virgin Media and the launch of Virgin Mobile.

The new campaign is titled ‘Here comes The Magic’. It invites everyone to be a part of the magic provided by Virgin Media and fittingly, its main TV adverts feature a ‘Magic Truck’ driven by Richard Branson himself. The hashtag for the campaign is #HereComesTheMagic.

Viewers with a keen ear will recognise the voice of renowned X-Men, Star Trek and Shakespearian actor Patrick Stewart who provides a resounding voiceover for the adverts.

In the TV ad, UPC vans are driving fast in a convoy. One breaks forward and drives up the ramp into the back of a massively long truck which bursts into vibrantly bright Virgin Media colours. Leading the trucks forward, Richard guides the fleet on a new journey to bring Virgin Media to people in towns and neighbourhoods across Ireland.

Kick starting the overall transformation, Branson used the truck featured in the ad to burst into the Virgin Media launch event in Dublin’s RDS last week. Richard also provided attendees with an advance preview of the new Virgin Media advertising campaign.

All UPC Ireland operations, products and services – residential and business – are transforming into Virgin Media. This includes customer facing brand points, the UPC website, social media platforms, service vehicles, staff apparel and the company’s offices in Dublin and Limerick.

Meadhbh Quinn, head of brand and marketing at Virgin Media said, “Our launch campaign captures the magic that only Virgin can bring to customers. The home of Ireland’s best broadband is getting even better. We believe Virgin changes the game for our customers and brings that extra magic. For starters we’re going to shake up the mobile market in Ireland, with the launch of Virgin Mobile on October 5th. And we’re just getting started, with lots more good things happening in the coming months and years ahead.”

“Virgin Mobile is better for customers in three ways. First, it’s the simplest mobile offer on the market with just one choice to make, unlimited or not. Second, our unlimited plan is the best unlimited plan in the market, with more data for your money; and Third, our customers get the best deal in the market, with unlimited mobile free for 3 months.”

Creative agency Irish International and media buying agency OMD, as well as H2 Productions and Vikings director Stephen St Ledger are behind Virgin Media’s extensive new advertising campaign which includes national TV, radio, digital, print and outdoor. Virgin Media is also writing to all its customers to let them know directly about the transformation.

The action scenes for the advertisement were filmed at Weston Airport.
