Guide to setting up Wi-Free in My Virgin Media 

Wi-Free is a completely free Wi Fi service that lets our broadband customers seamlessly connect to fast reliable broadband when they visit the home of another participating Virgin Media Broadband customer. There's no need to even ask people for their Wi-Fi password.
You can register for Wi-Free in a jiffy: 

1.

Log into My Virgin Media and set a separate password for Wi-Free

2.

Your Wi-Free password cannot be the same as your My Virgin Media password

3.

The first time you connect a device to the Wi-Free network you will be prompted to enter this password and your My Virgin Media username

4.

After that your device will automatically connect to Wi-Free and you're good to go

 
 

WiFi update for IOS users

If you are currently unable to connect to Wi-Free on your Apple device, don’t worry! Follow the simple steps below and you will be back up and running in a jiffy.
 

1.

Go to Settings 

 

2.

Select Wi-Fi

 

 

3.

Select the Wi-Free network

 

4.

Press Accept

 

 

5.

You are now connected

 

 

 
 

Guide to connecting to Wi-Free on OS X devices

 

To set up your Apple OS X Device follow the steps below:


Step 1: Click the Wi-Fi icon on the task bar and select ‘Horizon WiFree’
Step 2: Enter you My Virgin Media Username and Wi-Free password
Step 3: Click ‘Join’. You are now connected to Horizon Wi-Free
 

Note: the next time you are in range of a Wi-Free network your device will automatically connect.

Guide to connecting to Wi-Free on Windows 8 devices

Step 1: Go to ‘Settings’, then click ‘Control Panel’
Step 2: Click on ‘Networks and Internet’ / ‘View network status and tasks’
Step 3: Click on ‘Setup a new connection or network’
Step 4: select ‘Manually connect to a network’, then click ‘Next’.
Step 5: For ‘Network name’ enter ‘Horizon Wi-Free’, and change the ‘Security type’ to ‘WPA2-Enterprise’. Click ‘Next’.
Step 6: Click ‘Change connection settings’
Step 7: Click ‘Security’
Step 8: Click ‘Settings’
Step 9: Unchecked the ‘Verify Server certificate’ box and click ‘OK’

 


You are now connected to Wi-Free. The next time you are within range of Wi-Free network your device will automatically connect.

 

Guide to connecting to Wi-Free on Android devices

Step 1: Click the ‘Apps’ or ‘Menu’ button on your home screen.
Step 2: Click ‘Settings’
Step 3: Click on ‘Wi-Fi’
Step 4: select Horizon Wi-Free
Step 5: Select ‘MSCHAVP2’ from the ‘Phase 2 Authentication’ dropdown menu
Step 6: Enter your My Virgin Media Username in the ‘Identity field and your Horizon Wi-Free password.

 


Please leave the ‘Anonymous identity’ field blank. This field is an Android specific field which is not required for logging into Wi-Free and is not related to your My Virgin Media account.
 

You are now connected to Horizon Wi-Free. The next time you are within range of Horizon Wi-Free network your device will automatically connect.
